Welcome to Everything to Know about Seattle, Washington!
Little secret….this was my first solo travel trip.
Seattle is filled with a variety of things to do and has both mountain and water views which is the perfect combo!
Expedia is always there to save you money, it is the best place to book through! Combining flight and hotel.
Travel tip: Always go for a morning flight arrival and late afternoon departure.
We stayed at StayPineapple Hotel, it was a modern/edgy feel. They even had pineapple shaped cookies out every afternoon for guests. Hotel also included morning breakfast and board games in the lobby for the early dark nights in the winter.
Day 1 in Seattle, Washington
After arriving and checking into the hotel, we were ready to get outside.
Being from Florida, we wanted the brisk cold air on our cheeks.
First stop was the view, we wanted to see the city by the water. There was a boardwalk that gave a great view of the water and the city.
Waterfront Park Seattle
Next stop was food and warmth! It was very cold that winter in December. We started our walk towards downtown and landed at a local pub.
Coming from the East Coast, the time adjustment was very difficult. We were going to bed early every night and early risers in the morning.
Day 2
The Space Needle.
We booked our ticket in advance and went in the morning (saved a little money doing a bundle through City Pass….adding on a glass museum).
It can be difficult planning a trip to Seattle and specifically to see the Space Needle due to the cloudy weather. We were lucky and had almost clear skies.
Starting from the bottom, ride the elevator all the way to the top. The top circles around with benches to sit and views at every angle of the city and water.
There is also a restaurant inside, a coffee shop, and a gift store.
Of course the coffee was STARBUCKS, a must drink in Seattle since it was founded there.
Inside the Space Needle, there is also a standing platform to look straight down……this was not for my husband but I enjoyed the thrill.
Chihuly Garden and Glass
Unique experience at the Chihuly Garden, nothing we had ever seen before.
We bought the package through City Pass that combined multiple city activites into a bundle price.
We went later that afternoon to walk through. Lots of sculptures and we even joined in on a blowing glass presentation.
We were so tired from travel, time change, and walking around that we ordered food to the hotel and went to bed early.
Day 3
We spent most of our full final day by the water. This was my favorite day.
Heights Public Market
We were visiting Heights Public Market during the week and it was still busy.
Small shops and markets lined the inside as you walked through the covered market. We unfortunately were not there at the Fish Throwing time but there were still lots of fish on ice to see.
If we lived in Seattle, I would expect flowers from the market every week from my husband. They were beautiful even in the winter months of December.
Gum Wall
Very close to the market is the Gum Wall, tucked into an old alley.
It is as gross as it sounds but I had to stick to my chewed gum to the wall (which is not easy for some reason, mine fell multiple times).
Ferry Boat Ride to Bainbridge Island
One of my favorite parts of this trip was the Ferry Ride from Seattle to Bainbridge.
We boarded the ferry early afternoon and had a lovely day over in Bainbridge. The tickets were easy to purchase and follow.
Giving another beautiful view of the Seattle city as we rode away.
Bainbridge was quaint and had small roads to walk along the water. We grabbed lunch and a late afternoon snack of ice cream.
Seattle Great Wheel
Once arriving back to Seattle, we were near the Seattle Great Wheel. It is a giant ferris wheel that rides over the water.
Again, cannot emphasize all the amazing views. This one was unique and gave a little stomach drop as you rolled around by the water. Such a fun experience!
Day 4
We had an afternoon flight back to the East Coast so we slept in and grabbed Shake Shack before Ubering back to the airport.
