Weekend Summer Couples Trip to Asheville, North Caroline!
Asheville, NC is the perfect quick weekend getaway. There is just enough to do to fill up a couple days. Do yourself a favor and book your trip through Expedia. We want to see the beautiful Biltmore Estate so we stayed near the property at Brookstone Lodge.
Day 1
Since we arrived later that evening, we went downtown and explored the strip. There are a variety of bars and restaurants. First priority was food, we ate at a small dive Mexican restaurant before heading out to the bars.
- Downtown Asheville
Brewery central in Downtown. We grabbed a couple drinks at Wicked Weed, highly recommended, because it is a famous beer. I love when there is inside and outside seating. After a couple drinks, we were all craving a dessert, so naturally we walked over to Crave Dessert Bar.
Day 2
BUY your tickets in advance. Do yourself a favor and get them in advance so you can schedule your tour time and wine tasting time. A wine tasting comes with the ticket but make sure to book in advance so you can get a spot that day!
Arrive in the morning so you can beat the rush. Give yourself enough time to park and figure out the day plan.
Upon arrival, you will walk up to the amazing view of the Biltmore. The only access to the house is by tour, so until your time, you will not be inside.
There are beautiful gardens to wander through when exploring the estate.
After walking around, you will need at least a glass of water……or food if you are anything like me. There is a restaurant, bakery, ice cream/coffee shop, and a food court. Be aware of your tour time because you do not want to be late.
Tours go on all day so inside is very busy. You follow along by phone and click through as you move to each section of the house. Every person has their own phone so we attempted to all hit play at the same time at each station.
The tour can be as long or as short as you want, take your time because no one is rushing you.
Having a car for the visit is not necessary but I recommend. The Biltmore Estate is large so getting around the estate can be difficult if you are waiting on their transportation. You can drive from the estate parking to the winery. There are multiple beautiful fields to pass as you drive to the winery. Stop and take pictures, the views are amazing!
The wine tasting is fairly quick but provides about 8 different wines to try. After the tasting and feeling tipsy, we headed next door to their small appetizer restaurant where we grabbed another drink and some appetizer olives.
- Sierra Nevada Brewery
This was the BEST part of the trip. I am all about drinks, live music, and good food. There is a restaurant inside of the brewery, large sitting lawn outback, drinks stands, and a food cart on the brewery property. If you have more time, I would do the distillery tour.
Long day to say the least between the Biltmore Estate and the Sierra Nevada Brewery, we ate at Ichiban Hibachi Restaurant for dinner and called it a night.
Day 3
Back to Downtown Asheville.
First stop….coffee! Double D’s Coffee and Desserts was the cutest place. It was a bus that had a second level sitting area. We opted for the picnic tables because it was a nice day. Coffee was AMAZING and they had so many flavors of coffee syrup to chose from.
Second stop…..food! We had brunch at Tupelo Honey which never disappoints. Chicken and waffles is delish, but really any breakfast sandwich hits the spot.
After brunch, we walked around downtown Asheville and went into the shops and centers. Nothing super special around this area but we had time to kill before the drive home.
I begged my husband to try and find a Blue Ridge Parkway spot but we had no luck! The Blue Ridge Parkway is a scenic driving highway that has beautiful views as you drive. The Parkway goes through a couple different states so it can be difficult if you are only in Asheville trying to find it. If you have an extra day, I feel like it is worth finding…….maybe next time!
Thank you for joining me on my Asheville Trip,
